I had such a delightful birthday! Well-wishes from my fellow Juneau-ites and love from down south really brightened my day and week. Jeff worked around the clock on the Scott McAdams campaign, and McAdams got the most votes here in Juneau! But, Alaska is a big state. A big republican state, so Scott didn't win. Jeff and the campaign were in good spirits, though, and everyone seemed proud of how the campaign was run. And I was especially proud of Jeff.
This weekend I am in a staged reading of the play, The Big One. It's about the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill. It's written by an Alaskan, Dick Reichman, who happened to be in Valdez when the spill happened. It's stunning and simply terrifying.
To sooth my shivers from the cold (and realities of crude oil killing thousands), I am knitting a headband.
Tonight, Jeff and I are going to the theatre to see Tuesdays With Morrie, which also happens to star Dick Reichman. Tis the season to knit, eat, and be sure that our social and entertainment encounters remain indoors.
Happy weekend! xo
